Dreaming of becoming a great actor? Who hasn't? Now's your chance! Broadway Gal will be teaching a beginning acting workshop on January 9, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Library Community Room. The class is for students in grades K through 8. Registration is required, so please call (317) 831-7323 or register using our online calendar.
During the workshop attendees will be introduced to the story, characters, and plot of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, by L. Frank Baum, which will be presented as a play. Students will learn exercises and techniques that professional actors and actresses use. For students in grades 3-8 who wish to try out for principle roles, copies of the script will be available for audition preparation.
Too bad my Library doesn't have a book trailer for Baum's masterpiece, but everybody has seen the 1939 movie, so we should all know the basic plot and themes. Better yet, you could read the book (or one of its many adaptations). All are available in our online Evergreen Indiana catalog.
