Girls, so the rhyme goes, are made of sugar and spice and all things nice. If so, then they should have a special basket for their sweets. Where can you get such a basket? You don't have to get it; instead, you can make it yourself. Sound difficult? Not so much. Baskets From Junior's Farm (where Junior is from) will be showing you how.

Whips Her Basket Into Shape
On Saturday, July 9, 2011, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., you can learn to weave a "sugar 'n spice" basket, an 8" x 8" creation with an oval wooden bottom and wooden handle. Attach a clay embellishment for fun and profit! Well, fun, anyway. It looks like so:
Sugar 'N Spice Basket
The workshop costs $18, which is payable in advance and nonrefundable (sorry, but supplies are expensive and must be purchased in advance by the instructor). Registration is required. Visit the Library's online calendar to register, or call (317) 831-7323.
Create your own special basket. It is a valuable skill (think of the gift opportunities). Nothing says you care about somebody more than a custom-made basket especially for moi -- I mean, for your loved ones.

P.S. That "sugar and spice" rhyme reminded me of "Sugar and Spice," by the Merseybeat band, the Searchers (1963), shown here in a promotional film, apparently showing how the recording process worked at the time. Since the ending is rather abrupt, let's hear the German version, performed by the Searchers (yes, the band themselves actually sang the German lyrics). Hilarious! We follow this with a fan's video combining the studio recording (from the LP Sugar and Spice [1963]) with the Powerpuff Girls (cartoon characters).
