Our 2014 Cauli-cott Medal Winner

Congratulations (or, should I say, concatulations) to local writer/illustrator Jeff Terry, recipient of the 2014 Cauli-cott Medal for best illustrated children’s work by a Morgan County, Indiana author/artist.  Jeff's children’s picture book, Reef Cuttlefish, the first title in the author’s Predators Underwater series, earned him this coveted honor.

Reef Cuttlefish and several other delightful books by Jeff are available to checkout from our Evergreen Indiana online catalog.  It's also available to purchase from Amazon.com.

Jeff's on a roll.  He also received our 2013 Cauli-cott Award, as we discussed in a previous blog post.

Great job, Jeff!  Your books are wonderfully illustrated and are engaging reading (or reading aloud to youngsters).  Reef Cuttlefish is a welcome addition to our juvenile nonfiction collection.

Our First Annual Cauli-cott Medal Winner

What with all the brouhaha about Broadway Gal's Caldecott Medalist button dress, I've decided that the only way my button would earn display space would be if I, too, awarded medals for the promotion of youth literacy.  And so was born the (drum roll, if you please . . .)

2013 Cauli-cott Medal
For Best Illustrated Children's Work
by a Morgan County, Indiana Author/Artist

We'd like to give this prestigious award to a local children's author/illustrator for the best illustrated children's book from Morgan County this year.  We have a winner!

Aerial Hunters: Red-Tailed Hawk (2013)
written & illustrated by Jeff Terry
(MPL Call No. EASY 598.944 TER)

Winter Animals: Hunters of the Cold, Arctic Wolves (2013)
written & illustrated by Jeff Terry
(MPL Call No. EASY 599.773 TER)

Japanese Giant Hornet (2013)
(Monstrous Animals Series)
written & illustrated by Jeff Terry
(MPL Call No. EASY 595.79 TER)

Local artist/author Jeff Terry has published three children's picture books this year that capture the hearts and minds of young readers while stimulating their curiosity, enhancing their knowledge, and improving their literacy skills.  Mr. Terry is the winner of our first annual Cauli-cott Medal for Best Children's Illustrated Work by a Morgan County, Indiana Author/Artist.

All three books are available to check-out in our Evergreen Indiana online catalog.  Just click the hyperlinked call numbers beneath each photo (above), and then use your E.I. library card to place holds on these items.

Now that I have my own early literacy medal to award to outstanding authors/illustrators, surely Broadway Gal will add my button to her fancy ALA dress.  You'd think, right?
