It's About Time!

2019 UPDATE:  My library switched to a new website and left off my web page.  That stinks.

I finally have a page on the Library's website devoted to my magnificent self.  It's about time!

Better late than never, I suppose.  Still.

P.S.  The Better Late Than Never Jug Band performed "I Wish I Could Shimmy Like My Sister Kate" at the Roast Coffee & Tea Trading Company, in Patchogue, New York, during Hank Stone's Rule the Roast #3 (2011).  Maybe the song is about Technigal.  Just saying.

Listen to What the Man Says

Those teens in the new horror novella, Floor Four, by A. Lopez, Jr., should have listened to "old man" Jake.  Our book trailer elaborates.

Floor Four: a Novella of Horror, by A. Lopez, Jr.
(MPL Book Trailer #177)

The music soundtrack to this book trailer, composed (as always) by our Library composer, superbly captures the sinister mood of this terrifying tale.  Horror fans will be scared silly, which is the plan, I'll venture.  As for moiself, I'll be hiding under the desk in the MPL Indiana Roving Reporter Room.  Why take chances?  "The Mangler" could be anywhere!

Floor Four is available for sale (Kindle or paperback editions) on Amazon.com.

More YAZ "Canvassing"

Our teen patrons continued using our Young Adult Zone (YAZ) windows as their artistic canvases to decorate the Library for Halloween.  Crafty Gal, who hasn't been a teen for awhile but has had heaps of experience as a teen librarian at a nearby library, joined the fun.  As always, click the images to bigify.

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!

"Canvassing" the YAZ

The YAZ (Young Adult Zone) at my Library became artists' canvas this week as teens began painting the windows for Halloween.  There's definitely a sci-fi/fantasy element intertwined with the ghostly stuff, but I'm down with that.

The Doctor (in the TARDIS) Meets Scooby-Doo & Friend

Bottom Left, Clockwise:  C-3P0 & R2D2 (Star Wars); Spock, Kirk,
McCoy (Star Trek); Shaggy (?) & Scooby-Doo; Cobwebs;
I Have No Idea; Casper the Friendly Ghost (?); Charlie Brown

I'll have to ask Programma Mama about those dudes in the red and blue shirts (upper right).

 L to R:  C-3P0 & R2D2; Cross-Bones; a Cat (!); Tombstones

The Doctor (in Disguise) & a Dalek

 Back to the Tombstones

Certainly a mix of unusual characters, not ordinarily found together in their respective fictional universes, but, hey, Halloween is about the mysterious and the imaginary, so anything can happen.

I'm looking forward to more teen art in the YAZ windows.  I'll keep you posted.

P.S.  In this episode of MEG-A-RAE (August 31, 2012), Miss Meg & Miss Rachel host a panel discussion about all things Doctor WhoThere are even cool TARDIS sounds!

A Terrific Tea Time

This is your feline roving reporter lurking beneath the tables and chairs at our "Morning Tea With Tess Gerritsen" program this morning.  We have exclusive photos, of course.

Programma Mama introduces our Guest of Honor

Tess tells the tales

Tess shared many amusing and intriguing anecdotes from her professional career, both as a physician and a best-selling author.  She described her inspirations in writing and provided many particular examples explaining how her book topics evolved.  We were particularly excited when she said that public libraries (along with horror movies) shaped her childhood and planted the writer's seed early in life.

Programma Mama and the Decorinator presented Tess with a thank you basket from the Friends of the Library.

After answering questions, Tess signed books.

Madame Programmerama (center) queues up early

Although before my time, Madame Programmerama was my Library's adult programming coordinator before Programma Mama.

 Look!  It's OfficeMeister!

Best adult program ever at MPL, I'll venture.
