Perhaps someone felt I might swat something off a desktop.  I would NEVER do such a thing, at least while anybody was looking.  Anyway, I categorically deny all responsibility for that thing that broke.  I didn't knock it off the circulation counter.  I don't care what the surveillance videos show.

Learn How to Make Your Very Own Movie!

Have you ever wanted to make your very own movie but don't know where to start?  Then we've got an upcoming program that you certainly won't want to miss.

On Saturday, September 8, 2018, from 12:30-1:30 p.m., in the library's community room, film director and screenwriter Demetrius Witherspoon will be sharing his experiences (and secrets) in making and financing motion pictures.  Mr. Witherspoon is CEO of DV Entertainment Pictures, which has produced the Submerge movie series.  For those playing along at home, that's these:

• Submerge:  The Chronicles of Ni're
• Submerge:  Ni're Reborn
• Submerge:  Echo 51
• Submerge:  Galaxy of Subversion (currently in development)

My library has DVD copies of Submerge:  Echo 51 and Submerge:  Ni're Reborn, as well as the novelization of Submerge:  Echo 51, available to checkout with your Evergreen Indiana library card.

We've got a nice display across from our circulation desk.  On the mannequin is the official "behind-the-scenes" movie crew t-shirt and one of the actual props used by characters in the film.  We even have a movie poster signed by Mr. Witherspoon!  The library's own Miss Catherine, whom I call The Couturier Kid, worked on costuming for Submerge:  Echo 51 (see our previous blog post for details).  The Decorinator and BizMeister created the display topper.  That's a galaxy.  It's pretty cool.  (Thanks, Couturier Kid, for letting us borrow the mannequin, t-shirt, and prop.)

Beyond Books

Lady RaDA has created a cool "beyond books" display featuring lots of fun items you may checkout with your Evergreen Indiana library card.  The display is across from the library circulation desk, next to the Paul Hadley paintings.

The only item missing that would make the perfect display would be some canned tuna-in-oil.  I'd check that out, pronto.  Well, I'd have my minions check it out for moi.  I'm not sure how I'd return it to the library, however.

April Library Displays

It's practically April--it has been raining for the past two days--so it's time for my library to put up some Spring-themed displays.  As always, click the photos below to bigify.

CatPro, our relatively new (she's been here a couple months) technical services coordinator, created this display for National Garden Month (April).  Checkout these (and other, similarly topical) books (and other stuff) using your Evergreen Indiana library card.

The Decorinator added this John Deere toy display to the glass cabinet next to the library's front entrance.  You can't get more Spring than farming in Indiana.

Our "History Buff"alo

Look who paid my library a visit this week.  That's a real HISTORY BUFFalo, I'd venture.

That's the official Indiana bicentennial bison for Morgan County grazing in our grand hall.  Ordinarily, I don't like other animals stomping around my turf, but when they're as big as this dude, I try to be more broadminded and less territorial.  The library has plenty of space for everyone.

The bison will be hanging out here until the end of August; then it's back to the migratory tour to places far and wide.  Here are some more photos taken by Scowl-Face, one of my trusty minions.  Some are close-ups, so you can see the bison's unique historical markings. That's tons of Morgan County history on the hoof, for sure.

When you visit the library to see our bison, remember NOT to touch!  He bites.  Unless it's a she.  I bet she bites, too.  So just touch with your eyes, okay?  'Nuff said.

August 23, 2016 Update:  His name's Brutus.  Really.  They held a contest and everything.
