P.S. "Number One," by the Rutles, was a parody of "Twist and Shout," as covered by the Beatles (on Please Please Me ). The Rutles were the comic brainchild of Monty Python's Eric Idle, who was a close friend of George Harrison, and Neil Innes, who also appeared in Monty Python's Flying Circus (1969-1974) and subsequent Python movies (and was a musician in the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band). The Rutles were a brilliant and hilarious parody of the Beatles. "Number One" appeared on the soundtrack LP The Rutles (1978), which accompanied the television special All You Need Is Cash (1978).
