More Pix From NYC Trip

Courtesy of Buffalo Gal, here are some more photos from our trip to New York City.

The folks at Radio City Music Hall wanted moi to perform a one-feline show, but I unfortunately had to decline.  Somebody's got to do the roving reporting at my Library.  These blogs don't write themselves.

I'll Post More Pix If Buffalo Gal Has Any,

P.S.  Although we didn't visit Brooklyn, I thought Neil Diamond's "Beautiful Noise," from the album by the same title (1976), would be a nice musical closer for our NYC trip.  Diamond vividly captured the musicality (if not a word, it should be) of life in the Big Apple and its boroughs (or at least the ones Diamond wandered growing up in Brooklyn, which, presumably, encompassed all five).  Life in New York City has its own rhythms and nuances, which songwriters have captured in many musical and lyrical shapes over the years.  Beautiful Noise (1976) may have been Diamond's best thematic album--if you know what I mean.  (Neil fans will get that inside reference.)

P.P.S.  I know we visited NYC in early winter, but I really like this song.  "Summer in the City," by the Lovin' Spoonful (1966), was a chart-topping single for a folk-rock group that was often characterized as a jug music band during the 1960s folk revival.  The song showcased the album Hums of the Lovin' Spoonful (1966).  The lyrics concisely sum up summer life in the Big Apple (or almost any metropolis, actually).  This version comes from the original 45 r.p.m. single released on the Kama Sutra label (1966).  Love those pops and scratches!
