Literacy Is a Good News Thing

National Family Literacy Day was yesterday (November 1), which was also National Authors Day.  So, how did you celebrate?  My Library has an entire YouTube Channel devoted to original videos, some of which are book trailers featuring some great books to read.  But we also subscribe to a great readers' advisory service called Book News (Dear Reader)Click here to review the latest books available at my Library.

Naturally, we have a dandy promo trailer (or program trailer, as Scowl-Face initially called it) that tells you about how to access Book News from my Library's home page.

Actually, we have two versions of this promo trailer.  Same visuals, different soundtracks.  Which is better, 9B (above) or 9A (below)?  I sound like an ophthalmologist.

Take a look at Book News through the MPL website and see if there are any books you'd like to read.  You can then search for them in our Evergreen Indiana (E.I.) online catalog.

Be sure, too, to read Wild Thang and Toucan Sammy's early literacy blog (and watch their videos on their own YouTube Channel) to learn various ways to make learning to read fun for your young children.

Reading is FUNdamental,

P.S.  Enjoy some cute reading songs (2009) by Jacqueline Jules, author, poet, teacher, and librarian.
